The ECSC is delighted to continue its sponsorship of three Chiefs players this season.
Jack Innard for the Men, and Sophie Langford, and Lucy Nye for the Women.
Jack Innard
Cornishman Jack Innard only took up playing rugby after his local football team folded, but it proved a shrewd decision as he has since gone on to establish himself within the game.
Jack initially started out with Falmouth before moving on to Truro, where he became part of the Exeter Chiefs Academy system.
Having previously played at both flanker and centre in the past, he finally found his position in the number two jersey where he honed his trade playing Championship rugby with Cornish Pirates.
Regular game time in the Championship helped to develop Jack, who underlined his worth to the Chiefs when he scored the opening try in their Anglo-Welsh Cup Final win against Bath at Kingsholm.
Now very much part-and-parcel of the Chiefs first team ranks, Jack is regularly challenging for a spot in the match-day 23 with his all-action style and has amassed just shy of 75 appearances so far.
Sophie Langford
Centre Sophie Langford started playing rugby in Hong Kong, where she joined the national performance programme at the age of 14.
In 2020, she moved to Edinburgh joining Scottish Premiership side, Heriots. She debuted for Scotland U18s at the Six Nations Festival, notably scoring the competition's fastest-ever try in only 17 seconds against Italy. Later that year, Sophie captained Scotland at the Rugby Europe 7s in Prague.
In Summer 2020, she headed to Devon, linking up with the Exeter Chiefs. She debuted in the club's opening game of the season, away to DMP Sharks in the Allianz Cup.
Sophie has played for England U20s and most recently featured at centre in the England Pathway matchday squad.
Lucy Nye
Exeter-born Lucy Nye has returned to her roots by heading back to Devon to play for Exeter Chiefs.
The scrum-half was born in Exeter, attended St Peter’s High School and played for Exeter Saracens girls U15s and U18s, having grown up watching her father play for Exmouth RFC. A self-confessed beach lover, the call of the South West was too good to resist.
Lucy said: “As a young girl from Exeter, I never thought it would be possible to put on a Chiefs shirt". Now she has made that a reality, coming off the bench to feature in the 52 - 10 win against Leicester Tigers.
Formerly of Wasps Ladies, she has spent the last two seasons with Leicester Tigers Women while juggling her career in the RAF Police. She has also run out for the RAF Rugby Union Women.
Lucy played seven times for England U20s and has also played sevens for England.
